Accepted as the classic color for a PRE. Many beautiful examples of grey and white spanish horses can be found in the classic studs of Spain.
Equally traditional in Spain, the horses of Escalera, Guardiola and Marin Garcia are known for their bay coats.
Some key studs in Spain kept the black PRE as a line. With the increased interest in this coat colour from foreign countries, studs such as Martinez Boloix have reaped the benefit of their persistence.
When looking for this colour, it is a wise exercise to take note of the prospect’s genealogy, that he is not only a genetic success in his color genes, but also in his overall inheritance.
Chestnut pure spanish horses in Spain, correctly registered as chestnut P.R.Es. Accepted in the Spanish Stud Book. Chestnut is still quite a rare color in the spanish horse. Chestnut pure spanish, chestnut lusitanos and chestnut andalusians are linked to many of the dilutes.
Dun and buckskin are accepted colors in the pure spanish horse. With the increase of interest in the dilute colors, gene testing has become widespread. The University of California, Davis, USA, has a unit devoted to genetic colour testing for horses. They are most helpful, and will DNA-test for color genes using hair samples.
DNA testing has now been developed for the dun colour. Evaluation as to whether a horse is true dun used to be based on the appearance and endurance of certain markings.
The cremello pure spanish and palomino pura razas are beginning to appear. Cremello, palomino and perlino have been present as coat colours in the Lusitano horse for many years.
All our horses are registered with the Spanish Stud Book. They are correctly Inscribed and Revised, and their papers are in order with ANCCE.

An allele is one of a pair of genes. ( er . .Not Levis) In horse color coding, they are expressed as dominant and recessive. A dominant allele is indicated by a capital letter, and a recessive allele by a lower case letter.
A genotype is the particular allele makeup of an individual. In a horse colour code, it shows which alleles are present, and which are dominant.
Extract from Wikipedia
An organism is homozygous for a particular gene when identical alleles of the gene are present on both homologous chromosomes.
An individual that is homozygous dominant for a particular trait carries two copies of the allele that codes for the dominant trait. This allele, often called the dominant allele, is normally represented by a capital letter. When an organism is homozygous dominant for a particular trait, the genotype is represented by a doubling of the symbol for that trait, such as AA.
An individual that is homozygous recessive for a particular trait carries two copies of the allele that codes for the recessive trait. This allele, often called the recessive allele is usually represented by the lowercase form of the letter used for the corresponding dominant trait, for exampla aa
Extract from Wikipedia
An organism is heterozygous for a particular gene when two different alleles occupy the genes position on the homologous chromosomes.
The cell or organism is called a heterozygote. Heterozygous genotypes are represented by a capital letter representing the dominant allele, and a lowercase letter representing the recessive allele, such as Aa.
The capital letter is usually written first.
