In Andalucia the Pura Raza Espaņola mares are used almostexclusively for breeding. At last year's Feria de Caballos in Jerez - the spectaculardisplay of Spanish horses, spanish dress and Spanish traditionheld here every May - we saw only one four-in-hand of PurebredSpanish mares. The Lusitano mares are used more for riding,especially in Portugal.
