All pure spanish horses, worldwide, are registered in the Spanish Stud Book. Registration and grading may be done through your own National Association, with the PRE Stud Book in Spain being the final reference point.

PRE Stud Book Spain: What is ANCCE-LG

The registration paperwork related to PREs and to the Stud Book in Spain has been the subject of much discussion in 2008.

The PRE Stud Book in Spain is overseen by the FESCCR - also known as Cria Caballar - as are the other stud books of the registered horses of Spain.

In January 2007, administration of the stud book for ’horses of the race Pura Raza Española’ was moved from under the Military, and is now the responsibility of ANCCE-LG, the Asociacion Nacional de Criadores de Caballos Espanoles - Librogenealogico
= National Association of Breeders of (purebred) Spanish Horses - Stud Book.

PRE Stud Book Spain - Grading the Pure Spanish Horse

Depending on who you talk to, the takeover has been anything from desired to disastrous. Many of the older, smaller studs, and quite a few of the larger ones too, had to update all their records.

This put a greater demand on ANCCE-LG than had been anticipated, and the process took longer than planned.

The Foundation for the Pure Spanish Horse in America dealt with this by opening up a brisk and efficient Registry, which is receiving good reports.

Much of the paperwork relating to the PRE stud book in Spain can now be done directly over the internet. When you buy a Pure Spanish horse from Spain, your local PRE organisation will have - or will be in the process of being granted - a protocol to represent the Spanish Stud Book in your country.
