Jerez Feria

Jerez and feria are linked - in essence and in glorious display. The feria del caballo, held the first week in May in Jerez de la Frontera, Andalucia, is a recognised highlight of the spanish horse calendar.

Horses, carriages, exhibitions and showing classes. Utterly spanish music, and the clamour of the merry-go-rounds.

People everywhere. Laughing, talking, dancing the sevillana in one of the noisy casetas that line the main walkways.

Everything that makes feria Jerez, and Jerez feria.

Families and friends, hermandades and tourists. Singing colour in every flamenco dress. Statements of al andalus in flowers and mantillas and fans. Food and laughter. A copa shared in harmony.

And horses.

Jerez is feria, and feria is horses.
