Visiting in a yard, and just standing there, effectively doing nothing, when I noticed these 2 horses. One a bay PRE, tied to the outside of a stable, the other a white tres-sangres - 3 blood, - inside the stable.
What followed would have been great on video, but I couldn't leave to get the camera. Did have the stills cam on me tho, so here's the as-it-happened record. Total time: less than 3 minutes.
Because I was background, the horses almost disregarded me - you can see the idle interest in the eyes of the bay as he's looking at me. But if one of the stable-hands came in, the white horse dropped the rope - and his nose, and his ears - and stood there as though the proverbial butter wouldnt melt.
I had to snap and slide and the light wasnt great, so theres a bit of smear on one or two shots, but as a series they tell us without a doubt what we already know - these animals ain't dumb!
The series stops where it does, because I had to leave the camera and go retrieve a bay PRE stallion who was loose.
