The horses of D. Miguel Bohorquez Ruiz, the long-established PRE breeding stud are a part of the foundation history of the spanish horse in Andalucia.
The stud was founded in 1892 with foundation stock including that from the Zapata Bocado lines. The Bohorquez Ruiz family has refined the bloodlines over generations with care and a deep understanding of the spanish horse.
As was the way with many of the prestigious old family studs, horsemen from generations chose and bred exceptional mares. Then they put these to proven and emblematic stallions, both their own and those from outside.
Many notable stallions from the Yeguada Militar were used, including the complete dynasty line of Maluso, Agente, Leviton and Deco, all 4 of whom feature directly in the Borhorquez bloodlines and breeding program.
A healthy input from complementary lines ensured a consistency in the breed. The almost mythical Albero II from Paco Lazo fathered many horses of the Bohorquez bloodline, as did Gorron II of the Terry brand.
ARCO IRIS, daughter of our Yeguada Peregrino foundation mare Queridita, is fathered by a Bohorquez stallion, a son of that same ALBERO II
The stud of D Miguel Bohorquez produced Rondeño IX, Quaified PRE. Twice Champion PRE of Spain, he twice represented Spain in Olympic dressage.
Son of Lebrijano III of the Yeguada Militar and of Rondeña VII of Miguel Bohórquez.
Rondeño IX is the father of Pinturero XX who at the time of writing is in training with dressage rider Carl Hester. The dressage horse Fuego, a spanish horse described as having impressive classical movements is also of the Jerez Stud of Miguel Bohorquez.
The horses are known for their classical spanish morphology. They are free moving and beautiful, living examples of true pure spanish horse conformation. Their performance is a revelatory display of the ability inherent in the PRE.
