Filming and Editing in Spain - the Whole Story (!)

From my blog, after filming this particular pure spanish horse in an "Out and About" shoot.

It's all hand held - tripods aren't very practical in a situation like this. I don’t stage and set up events - our filming policy is to get the horse exactly as he is on the day we happen to film. As you can see in this particular video, location can be anywhere. This was in the mini nature reserve / camping grounds that encircle his stables.

Shooting schedule thus reads:

• Note artistic contrast of andalusian blue sky, dust-colored sand, and dark green pine branches.
• Decide on good starting point on far side of camping area.

Relocate, get sand in boots.

• Focus on horse, follow him as he moves and kicks up sand.
• Dodge the trees, duck the branches, choke on sand.
• Try to stabilise shot affected by jerky movements caused by choking. Trip over roots hidden in sand.

Hold camera up above sand as falling.

• Get great moving action shot of dark green pine branches and andalusian blue sky.
• Spit out sand, relocate horse....
